How long will I be in the study?

We expect the Screening Visit to take about 3.5 hours.

If you are in the Clinic Group, you will visit the UCSF clinic on 4 separate afternoons over a period of 2 weeks. Then again one more time one month later. Each of these visits will take about 6 hours. You will eat lunch at noon at the clinic on these visit days. We will ask you to take a bedtime saliva sample, at home. You can be doing other quiet (non-strenuous) activities such as reading, watching TV, or doing work as long as it is not psychologically or physically stressful.

If you are in the At Home Group, you will collect 6 saliva samples on 4 different days over a period of 10 days. Then again for one more day one month later. We expect this to take about 10 hours to collect the samples and complete the logbook.  You can be doing other quiet (non-strenuous) activities at home such as reading, watching TV, or doing work as long as it is not psychologically or physically stressful.

Total Time if you participate but are not placed into a Group: 3.5 hours (screening visit only)
Total Time if you participate and are placed into the Clinic Group: 30 hours
Total Time if you participate and are placed into the At Home Group: 10 hours

Before the one month later visit or home sample can occur, we will need to conduct a pregnancy and drug test. We expect this to take about 30 minutes of your time.
